Positive Birth Group
Royston Bumps and Babies group
The Positive Birth Movement, set up by Milli Hill (who is also a journalist who writes engagingly about birth and parenting matters - find some of her work here and here) is a fast-growing grassroots movement aiming to spread positivity about childbirth via a global network of free Positive Birth groups, linked up by social media. The Royston and area Positive Birth group meets on Mondays monthly at venues around the local area. Email me for more details or join our facebook group for support and updates.
There's lots on for pregnant women and young families in the area but finding it is not always straightforward. Mumsnet Local is a good source of info, as well as local Children's Centres and village / community notice boards. Here you can find links to websites and facebook pages for local activities and services. Please let me know if something's broken or out of date, and if you want me to add your link - give me a shout.
Local children's centres have a range of activities for mums-to-be and new parents, often free. So far this year they have included baby and toddler groups, baby massage courses and paediatric first aid sessions. You can find out what's on at your local children's centre in Royston, Bassingbourn or Melbourn - you can go to any Centre, not just your closest one so it's worthwhile having a look at upcoming activities all around.

What's happening locally?
Royston, Melbourn and the surrounding villages are full of bumps, babes, wraps and buggies! Many people choose to set up home here when a baby is imminent or at least on the cards, so they might not have a huge network of baby-related contacts to start with. Here's a short but sweet summary of a few of the local activities you might find helpful during pregnancy or with a small baby, along with links to a whole lot more.
This friendly group meets on a Friday morning, usually from 10.30-12.30 at the Old Bull Inn on the High Street in Royston or in people's homes for a cuppa. You're welcome with a bump - do pop in and say hello! - and once your baby is born come and have a hot drink and a natter. There's a facebook page, whixh also has details of other NCT meet ups and activities. All are welcome, just drop in (if you can make a £1 contribution to refreshments that is much appreciated)
